De Twistkapelletjes, Sint-Pauwels, Belgium - Wayside shrines on Waymarking.com

The two shrines at the coordinates are still called the 'Quarrel Chapels' (in Dutch both big chapels and chapel-like wayside shrines are called 'kapel' - for clarity's sake I'll call them 'chapels' from here on). They get the name from a dispute between the parishes of Sint-Pauwels and Kemzeke.
In the 18th century only one chapel stood here. It was located exactly on the separation line between the two parishes. Sint-Pauwels owned the ground around the chapel, so the offering money went to the church of this parish.
By way of a transaction of goods the chapel came into the hands of Kemzeke. The clergy made a deal that the offering money would still go mainly to Sint-Pauwels, although Kemzeke would now be entitled to part of it. And so it happened. Until 1805. In that year the board of guardians of Sint-Pauwels called upon a French law to claim the full amount again. Of course, Kemzeke protested and kept wanting its share but didn't get it. Angered by this 'treason' the people of Kemzeke broke into the alms box and just took the money. Sint-Pauwels' reaction was a bitter one. Their local priest was a more forgiving person, however, and in an attempt to end this 'parish war', donated the full sum to Kemzeke. That didn't please his churchwardens, though, and it came that they decided to build a second chapel just a few metres away from the first. The people soon began to refer to the chapels as 'Quarrel Chapels' and it's still the way they're known to the local people today.

The chapels are protected monuments since 1981.
