Block Island Southeast Light is a lighthouse located on the southeastern shore of Block Island overlooking Monhegan Bluffs. It is an active lighthouse serving ships entering Block island Sound and Long Island Sound.

The lighthouse dates back to 1872 when Congress passed and President Ulysses S. Grant signed an authorization for $75,000 in funding for the project. Construction began two years later by J. H. Tynan of Staten Island, NY, and was completed in 1875. A light-keeper's residence is attached to the 67 foot tall octagonal light tower. The tower houses a first-order Fresnel lens which is visible for 22 miles. The lens was once used by the Cape Lookout Lighthouse in NC.

Erosion of Mohegan Bluffs has forced the relocation of the structure to its current position, about 360 feet back from the original position.

The postal card bears a Coronado cachet and was cancelled on the first day of issue, July 24, 1999, with a Block Island, RI circular date stamp. It is part of a long series of postal cards depicting buildings.
