Golden Steer Choice Meats has been in business since 1968, and is one of the few specialty butcher shops on the Eastside in continuous operation since that time. Golden Steer makes its own Italian sausage blend, breakfast sausages, pepperoni and beef jerky, all excellent.
This store appears to be the last stand of the meat-eating hippie; a large sign in the window proclaims "IMAGINE PEACE" and inside the shop the walls are festooned with Beatles paraphernalia. But whether you're a tree-hugger or a tree-logger, you're sure to appreciate the thoughtful service and the attention to detail in evidence at Golden Steer.
