This wayside shrine is located at a hiking path from Mariastein to Hofstetten. It is a bit hidden under the trees at the edge of a wood, it is not miss when hiking there, but not to see from the street.

The shrine contains a statue of Saint Nicholas of Flüe the patron saint of Switzerland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_of_Fl%C3%BCe).

The shrine is not dated and I could not find any other information about it. Mariastein is a well-known place of pilgrimage, but it is dedicated to Virgin Mary, Saint Nicholas of Flüe has no special connection with this area (The village down the gap is called Flüh, but it is not the one where he came from, this is pure coincidence).
Material: masoned shrine, sandstone statue
