The Farol da Barra or Farol de Aveiro is the greatest of Portugal.

ENG: It was built in the nineteenth century, more precisely between the years 1885 and 1893, having undergone major repairs in 1929. It was electrified in 1936 and connected to the power distribution in 1950.
Holder of the title of the tallest lighthouse in Portugal, and 2nd highest in the Iberian peninsula, rises 66 meters above sea level, with a height of 62 meters.
The foundation of the tower comprises a mass of concrete 6 feet thick and was based on stilts the height of the lowest waters. Masonry were used in the red sandstone of Eirol and some granites.
The luminous range present in normal atmospheric transparency is 23 nautical miles, about 43 miles.
The staircase consists of 271 stone steps and a snail.


PT: Foi construído no século XIX, mais propriamente entre os anos de 1885 e 1893, tendo sofrido grandes reparações em 1929. Foi electrificado em 1936 e ligado à rede de distribuição de energia em 1950.
Portador do título de farol mais alto de Portugal, e 2º mais alto de Península Ibérica, ergue-se a 66 metros acima do nível do mar, com uma altura de 62 metros.
A fundação da torre é constituída por um maciço de betão de 6 metros de espessura e foi assente sobre estacas à altura das mais baixas águas. Nas alvenarias foram usados o grés vermelho de Eirol e alguns granitos.
O alcance luminoso actual, em condições normais de transparência atmosférica é de 23 milhas náuticas, cerca de 43 quilómetros.
A escadaria é composta por 271 degraus em pedra e em forma de caracol.
