O edifício:
O actual edifício da Câmara Municipal do Porto, em Portugal, foi projectado pelo Arq. Correia da Silva e começou a ser construído em 1920.
O projecto surgiu na sequência do plano de expansão do centro cívico elaborado pelo arquitecto inglês Barry Parker, aprovado em 1916. A concretização deste plano levou à expansão para norte da Praça da Liberdade, abrindo-se a Avenida dos Aliados e a actual Praça do General Humberto Delgado.
Apesar de ter sido iniciado em 1920, as obras do edifício dos paços do concelho sofreram inúmeras interrupções, tendo sido introduzidas alterações ao projecto inicial, pelo Arq. Carlos Ramos. Os serviços camarários só se instalaram no novo edifício em 1957.

O Porto, O TE é uma cidade portuguesa situada no noroeste da Península Ibérica, sede do município homónimo com 41,66 km² de área, tendo uma população de 237559 habitantes (2011. A cidade é considerada uma cidade global gama, sendo a capital do Distrito de Porto, da Área Metropolitana do Porto e da região estatística do Norte, sub-região do Grande Porto. The building:
The current City Hall of Porto, in Portugal, was designed by architect Correia da Silva and began construction in 1920.
The project arose as a result of the expansion of the civic center designed by English architect Barry Parker, approved in 1916. The implementation of this plan led to the expansion to the north of Liberty Square, opening up the Avenue of the Allies and the current Square General Humberto Delgado.
Although it was started in 1920, works in the building of the town hall suffered numerous interruptions, changes were introduced to the original project, by architect Carlos Ramos. The municipal services are only installed in the new building in 1957.

The City:
Porto, also known as Oporto in English, is the second largest city in Portugal and one of the major urban areas in the Iberian Peninsula. Its administrative limits (an area of 41.66 km²/16 sq.mi) includes a population of 220,000 inhabitants distributed within 15 civil parishes. The urbanized area of Porto, which extends beyond the administrative limits of the city, has a population of 1.1 million in an area of 389 km2 (150 sq mi), making it the second-largest urban area in Portugal. The Porto Metropolitan Area includes approximately 1.3 million people, and is recognized as a Gamma-level global city by the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Study Group, being one of the four cities in the peninsula with global city status (the others being Madrid, Lisbon and Barcelona).
Located along the Douro river estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.
