Korea Nazarene University was founded in 1954 in Gimpo, Korea, under the leadership of Dr. Donald E. Owens under the auspices of the International Church of the Nazarene. In the 1970's the Gimpo campus was sold and the university purchased a new campus which was then just north of the city of Cheonan, though now well within the city environs as the urban area expanded.

It is a Christian liberal arts college with a strong graduate program. It particularly attracts students into its Rehabilitation Welfare program, one of the pioneering programs of its type in Korea. The student body also comes from other Asian countries and there is a strong international faculty contingent.
