In Borth wird auch heute noch Salz gefördert. Anders als im Steinkohlenbergbau wird das Salz in Kammern abgebaut, wobei Sicherheitspfeiler stehen bleiben und die Decken mit Zugankern gesichert werden. Nur ein geringer Teil des Salzes ist für den Ernährungssektor bestimmt, der weitaus größere Teil geht an die chemische Industrie, wo Salz für die Herstellung u.a. von Glas, Waschmitteln, Kunststoffen, Lacken und Klebstoffen benötigt wird. Aber auch Streusalz für eisige Winter wird hier gewonnen und u.a. nach Skandinavien exportiert.
In Borth is promoted even today salt. Unlike the coal industry, the salt is mined in chambers, while maintaining safety pillars and ceilings are to be secured with tie rods.
