The well in the centre of Kemsing, once stood in the large convent, sadly this is no longer here. St Edith of Wilton was born in AD961 and was the illegitimate daughter of the Saxon King Edgar. St Edith spent all of here, until AD 984, in the convent. The well is said to have healing powers. It is said that the water would 'soth the eye'

The village sign shows a girl leaning over a well. This in fact St Edith at the Holy Well. There is plenty of street parking nearby the attached parking co-ords.
There is a stone plaque near the well that reads:
"St Edith of Kemsing
AD961 - 948
This well lay within the
precincts of the convent
where St Edith daughter
of King Edgar passed
her childhood hallowed by her
presence its waters
became a source of healing"
