Cotter, Arkansas became a boom town with the coming of the Missouri Pacific Iron Mountain Railroad in the early 1900s. Cotter became a division point (where crews change) on the route from Batesville, Arkansas to Joplin, Missouri. The Anglin-Tinnon Railroad Workers Memorial documents the rise and decline of Cotter with the fortunes of the four railroad lines serving Cotter from 1901 to present.
