In 2009-2010 Liechtenstein issued a set of four stamps showing Vaduz Castle in each of the four seasons. The "Autumn" stamp issued in 2010 shows what is probably the most familiar view of this symbol of Liechtenstein. From the streets of the capital you can see the surrounding wall and the castle high up overlooking the city. The stamp is a water color painting and hence a somewhat idealized. The angles of the building differ slightly from reality and the grape vines in the foreground are really behind the walls and cannot be seen from the city.
Vaduz Castle was built about 700 years ago. Since 1712 it has been owned by the Prince of Liechtenstein and it has been the principal residence of the prince's family since 1938. Therefore, it is not open to the public. The coordinates are for the viewpoint in downtown Vaduz.
