The Iowa State University Polk County Extension Office has created a wonderful Demonstration Garden in this residential area of Urbandale and the Rainbow Connection Garden is a special treat for children. It adds a special touch to attract the attention of the younger ones and teach them to recognize different plants and flowers. Each of the gardens in this park is marked with an artistically designed sign. Among the other specialized gardens are: Butterfly garden, Rose garden, Ornamental grasses, Woodland Walk, Arid Garden, and Birdhouse Island. Professional landscaping includes benches and picnic tables to encourage visitors to spend a little extra time enjoying this peaceful oasis and learning center. The garden is located on the corner of Dewey Gibbs Road and 92nd Street near Valerius Elementary School.
