Town organisation of the Sokol movement in Pardubice was established in1863, i.e. just one year after its foundation in Prague. During of a first decades of its existence the organisation used gyms in local school and just near the recent building was built "summer gym" in 1877. After World War I was decided in 1919 to build a new Sokol building (sokolovna). The building in Neoclassicistic style built according to design of architects Šantrucek and Mendl was finished in 1923. A lot of sport activities was organized here until Nazi occupation of Czuechoslovakia. After WW II was the activities of Sokol movement stronly limited by Communist regime. Till after 1989 was its activities revived again and recently about eight Sokol sport clubs used the building for their activities.
