Established in 1910, the Duntroon Gaol is now a roadside attraction. The Pillory outside the old Duntroon Gaol is able to be used for photos.

Duntroon is a town established in the mid 1870s on the trout-laden Waitaki River. There are several historical sites to see here including the old gaol, restored and complete with Pillory. There is also a "policeman and criminal" outside, carrying an old ball and chain, the criminal wears an historic pair of manacles.
