Where Life Is Great
Marchand is a small unincorporated community on edge of Sandilands Provincial Forest which is 2,772 sq.km (1,070 sq.mi.) of mostly unpopulated crown land that is a popular destination for campers, hikers and hunters. The large sand ridges and hills were left behind by the last ice age as the glaciers retreated and deposited large rocks, boulders, and vast amounts of sand. The rich forests of mixed hardwoods and majestic pines that have grown here are ideal habitat for hundreds of species of animals and birds.
The sign depicts some of the wildlife, forest, flowers and boulders in the Sandilands. The flowers, leaves and the eye of the deer are coloured glass but there is an aluminum backing so the light doesn't shine through.
