This grain elevator, now abandoned, was started by George Bagley. He was born in 1851 in New Hampshire and growing up he worked in many vocations.

In 1875, he became identified with the business of grain buying, along with his father and brother. In 1884, he moved to Canton, SD, along with his family to operate a grain elevator.

In 1885, Bagley formed a partnership with S.S. Cargill under the name of Bagley and Cargill and built nine elevators along the C&NW Railroad in eastern South Dakota. One such elevator being in Andover, SD.

Eventually, he purchased Cargill's interests in the grain elevators and in 1890 he incorporated under the name George C. Bagley & Company and continued to build more elevators.

Bagley died in 1919.
