The first Sokol unit in Cesky Dub was founded in 1865. It had 30 members and besides the Czechs there were also several Germans. It organized a Sokol ball in January 1866, but soon after the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 the activity has stopped.
The second Sokol unit was established in 1888. This second attempt was more successful and in June 1904, Sokol bought the house near the town square, which was used as the Sokol hall until 1950s and again after Sokol renewal in 1990.
Currently the Sokol unit in Cesky Dub has 178 members. Besides gymnastics there are volleyball and floorball teams. The building is also used as a hostel for hikers.
