This
stamp featuring Mount McKinley (Denali) is one of the seven stamps in the
National Parks Centennial Issue.
Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in the United States. The native Athabaskans used the word "Denali", meaning "the high one", to refer to this mountain. At the time of this stamps issue, the name Mount McKinley had been subject to local criticism. In 1980, Denali National Park and Preserve were established and the name of mountain changed back to Denali.
One really has to travel a ways into Denali Park to see Mount McKinley. An 85 mile ride on a National Park Service bus will take you to Wonder Lake Campground, where there are 28 tent-only campsites. Here you're within 26 miles of the mountain. Even then, you have to wait for the frequent cloud cover to move before you can hope to see the top of the mountain.
Coordinates are at the Wonder Lake Campground where these pictures were taken.
