Metro is tucked between housing developments in the town of Fishers, Indiana--just north of Indianapolis. The town has tried for years to convince the airport management to sell--evidently some of the residents don't like the air traffic (including corporate jets, training planes, blimps, and helicopters). From a pilot's perspective, the runway (15-32) isn't well-aligned with the winds.
I have heard that the intended sale of the land is nearing completion. I earned my private pilot certificate at this airport, and since it is very close to my home, I will hate to see it go. In the meantime, it is still a heavily-used airport for training and charter flights.
