Millennium larch above Mala Pisnica - Exceptional Trees on Waymarking.com

Larch used to be significantly taller, but top 10m broke off during a thunderstorm in 80ies. It is located high above valley Mala Pišnica, part of Triglav national park. It is accessible from 4 directions, but well hidden in alpine enviroment. All 4 ways have their character, so you can pick it by your prefference.
a) Access from Vršic pass: this is fastest way to reach it, it takes about 2hrs. You park your car on top of Vršic mtn pass, and start your climb towards "Slemenova Špica". Once you reach "Vratca" and route starts decending you stick to right side and stay on path(!!!) until you are about 200m off. (visit link)

b) Access from Mala Pišnica: I think this is the nicest way, especialy if it is a hot summer day. Mala Pišnica is a small valley, but it has been sealed off to protect its wildlife. Official path was destroyed and never renewed, so it is extremely dangerous to use. However, there is still hunters path, much safer to use. Park your car @ Jasna lake and go upstream Mala Pišnica. Once you reach coordinates : N 46.47047700000001 E 13.770062 (next to 2 pools) you will find hunters path on right side(ascending north). After about 100m climb, you can continue going west until you reach hunters cabin. From there there is another path going west towards Slemenova špica, but the higher it goes, harder it is to find it. Once you can't find it anymore, you should be about 500m away from your destination.

c) Access from Tamar trough Grlo(climbing, direct)
Once you reach Tamar lodge, you have to return couple houndred meters towards Planica and look for a way to Grlo-Slemenova Špica. It is a steep climb trough rocks, but once you are on top(nice view opens up to Mala Pišnica valley), you are just about 200m away from larch. (visit link)

d) Acces from Tamar trough Crne vode(most photogenic, nice view on Tamar and surroundings)
You start at Tamar lodge and follow way for Slemenova špica mimo Crnih vod. Under top "Slemenova špica", you take a path for "Tamar skozi Grlo" and start decending. (visit link)


SLO
Macesen je bil okrog 10m višji, vendar se je 10m vrha odlomilo med nevihto v 80ih. Nahaja se nad dolino Male Pišnice, ki je kot naravni rezervat del Triglavskega narodnega parka. Macesen je dostopen iz štirih smeri, vendar dobro skrit v gorskem okolju. Vsi štirje dostopi imajo svoj znacaj, zato lahko izbereš pot, ki ti najbolj ustreza.

a) Dostop iz Vršica (najhitrejši dostop, približno 2 uri)
Parkiramo na Vršicu in se povzpnemo proti Slemenovi špici. Ko dosežemo vratca,kjer se pot zacne spušcati se držimo desne. Ko se spustimo pod Slemenovo špico in dosežemo vstop v Grlo smo le še 200m od cilja.
b)Dostop skozi dolino Male Pišnice: po mojem mnenju je to najboljša pot, sploh ce je vroc poletni dan. Mala Pišnica je mala dolina, ki je odrezana od sveta. Uradna pot je sicer obstajala do zacetka 90ih, nato pa se je zacela podirati in je niso obnovili(z namenom da zašctijo tamkajšni )ekosistem. Kot piše na tablah je uradna pot smrtno nevarna(in to ni hec). Obstojeca lovska pot ni markirana, je pa dokaj varna.
Avto parkiramo pri jezeru Jasna in hodimo nekaj sto metrov ob potoku. Ko dosežemo koordinate N 46.47047700000001 E 13.770062 (pri dveh naravnih bazenckih) se povzpnemo po lovski potki desno navzgor po grebencku(proti severu). Po približno 100m vzpona se pot izravna, mi pa nadaljujemo proti zahodu do lovske koce. Od koce gre proti Slemenovi špici nemarkirana pot. Vzpenja se desno proti "Grlu", nato pa na vrhu skoraj izgine. Ko se približamo prelazu smo le še nekaj sto metrov od macesna.
c)Dostop iz Tamarja preko Grla(plezalna, direktna)

Ko dosežemo sedlo na vrhu Grla, je macesen že zelo blizu.
d)Dostop iz Tamarja mimo Crnih vod(fotogenicna, z lepim razgledom na Tamar in okoliške vrhove)
