The carousel is open during the warm months, and on the zoo's peak visiting days, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Expect it to be closed during the winter. The carousel operator does not accept cash, but a token machine is located at the entrance to the ride.
Some of the animals depicted in this basswood carousel are: ostrich, peacock, lion, monkey, bear, sea lion, tiger, zebra, panda, rhino, cheetah, baboon, and elephant.
The cost to ride the carousel is $2/person. The ride accepts only tokens, which can be purchased at the entrance to the carousel with $1, $5, $10, or $20 bills. Tokens can be used for some other rides, as well as meals as the restaurants. Children must be at least 42" tall to ride alone.
Numerous benches surround the carousel, where parents can sit and watch their children ride. A children's playground is right next door.
