The Huntsman Cancer Institute is a research center and care center for those in need of help from cancer. The High Risk Cancer Research Clinics provide information for investigations into the genetics and inheritance of cancer. Through these clinics, eligible participants are enrolled into cancer research studies. The clinics provide support for individuals and families with an increased risk of developing cancer, providing education and, in some cases, cancer screening services. The clinics are staffed by physicians, genetic counselors, research coordinators, and other support staff.
The Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) supports cancer research performed by more than 135 members of our Cancer Center. The purpose of this grant is to promote scientific excellence through coordinated, broad-based transdisciplinary programs and to support state-of-the-art shared research resources.
Established Cancer Center research programs include the following:
* Cancer Control and Population Sciences
* Cell Response and Regulation
* Gastrointestinal Cancers
* Imaging, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics
* Nuclear Control of Cell Growth and Differentiation
In January 2005, Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and Intermountain Healthcare (Intermountain) announced an alliance. This agreement created the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Care Program, which combines HCI’s leadership in laboratory, population sciences, and clinical research with Intermountain’s nationally recognized expertise in clinical quality improvement and program development.
