Neptune was the god of water and sea in Roman mythology. He certainly rules over this splendid fountain in front of the Library of Congress Building.

This fountain is called The Court of Neptune. Here Neptune sits on a rock in the center of the fountain, surrounded by his two sons on either side of his rock. On two neighboring rocks, there are two water nymphs, each riding a wild seahorse. The fountain is populated with water spouting turtles, sea serpents, frogs and dolphins.
