The building is classified by the National Trust of Australia. A plaque on the front of the building states: The Commercial Banking Co. of Sydney opened in 1834. This branch opened 13th March 1885 as Broughton Creek and the town renamed Berry on 4th December 1890. These premises were erected in 1889.
The Commercial Bank of Sydney amalgamated with the National Australia bank in 1981 & ceased to exist as a separate entity. This building was purchased by two local restauranteurs & converted into an up market Guest House (Bed & Breakfast), a purpose it still serves well.
It was originally renamed The Bunyip Inn & is now known as The Berry Inn.
