This aged family monument has the name of William Holt, who lived from 1831 to 1932, and his wife, who *only* lived from 1837 to 1913.

In Newport, in either the North Burial Ground or Island Cemetery, near the southern end not far from Farwell Street, is a marble monument that is for the Holt family. On one side of this monument is the following:
"William Holt,
Born March 28, 1831,
Died August 12, 1932"
That would have made him 101 years old when he passed away.
His wife's entry is below:
"Sarah E. Holt,
Born May 29, 1837
Died Aug. 28, 1915."
Thus, she would have been a "mere" 78 when she passed away.
There are entries for their boys, who lived to only 16 and 15 years.
Names of another son, wife, and children are also there, but none of them lived to the age of William Holt.
