This post is a state line boundary marker, located at the border of Methuen, Massachusetts, and Salem, New Hampshire. It is the 115th marker post set east from the southwest corner of New Hampshire. It is set alongside a country back road named Hampshire Road, at the junction of Garabedian Drive to the east, and at a bridge spanning the Spicket River, as well as the northbound lanes of Interstate Route 93, to the west of it.

The post is granite, 14 inches square, and stands 4 feet above ground level. The top of the post flat, and has a groove cut across it, denoting the surveyed boundary line. It has the inscription 'M MASS 1890' cut in the south face of the post, and 'S NH 1890' cut into the north face. The post is pitched a bit to the west, how long it has been this way is unknown.

There are also two surveyors points on the top, one is a metal rivet on the MA side of the post, and is registered with the Mass Geodetic Survey (MHD ID# 16372). There is also a small brass nail set in some lead; this is a reference mark for adjacent bench mark points in the immediate area.
This post, as a benchmark, has been entered as Waymark #WM9WB2, designated 'Spicket River 39'.
