The main gate of the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra, very rich in its ornamental iron from Stockholm and columns topped with arches and pinnacles in a Baroque style, very decorative, with the date of the 1791 draft, whose design is archived at the museum Machado de Castro, was completed in 1884, and its authorship, the Master Galinha and was dedicated to D. Maria I.
The sealing of the upper garden, richly ornate iron and also from Stockholm, particularly along the Avenida Júlio Henriques (east) stands out for its grandeur.
Exactly opposite this gate stands the statue of Brotero, sculpted by Soares dos Reis in 1887.
The garden doors open daily at 09:00 and end at 20:00.
