King Edward the seventh reigned over the whole of the United Kingdom and its territories from 22 January 1901 to 6 May 1910 upon his death. His mother was Queen Victoria and he was born in 1841. He holds the current record for being Prince of Wales (aka Monarch in waiting) for the longest period. He was also the last monarch not to have a surname as up to that point monarchs didn't have surnames, instead they are said to belong to a Royal House. Edward VII was from the House of Tudor.
