Castelo de Vide is bounded to it's fountains and water springs, like this splendorous Fonte da Mealhada (Mealhada's Fountain), built around 1699.

The water flows from two of it's four sprouts, depicting in marble the head of a lion. The water is recommend in the healing of deceases related with the digestive system.
In this, like in so many other fountains, the legend states : "If you want to return to Castelo de Vide, drink from this fountain. And next time, bring a bride. For the one who drinks from the fountain returns here to get married".
