This is a typical old house in traditional Engadine style. The walls can be up to one meter thick, a large wooden door in contrast to the almost tiny windows, often a small bench next to the door and many traditional ornaments called Sgraffiti.

These houses can be seen in many locations in the Engadine. This one is in Bergün which is not part of the Engadine in a geographic sense, but culturally closely related. It is a still inhabited dwelling house from 1747 in the Western part of Bergün, not far from the tower.
