Some ferries are as big as ocean liners, and some are - well, small like this rope line ferry across the Bugang River near the city of Pandan, Antique, on the island of Panay, Philippines. The closest village served is Santa Rosario.

BUGANG RIVER ROPE LINE FERRY
NORTH BANK LANDING
The
Bugang River has one many national and international awards as the cleanest inland waterway in the Philippines. There are tour boats coming from the nearby Phaidon Resort and other locations, and overland tours to Malumpati Cold Srpings and the headwaters of the river.
Although there is a highway bridge across this river near its mouth along the coast, and a foot bridge further upstream, this small ferry crossing makes it easier for those crossing from the village of Santa Rosario on the north side, to a few scattered homes and farms on the south side.
The ferry consists of a single rope, with a bamboo raft. The raft is propelled by hand-over-hand on the rope, but may be assisted by poles. It is large enough for only a couple of people, and not much cargo. The rope is low enough that some passing boats must lift the rope carefully over the top supports.
This little ferry may not operated during the height of the monsoon season in the summer months.
