En Erected in the twelfth century by the Abbot of Stavelot Wiblad,
the castle was given to Everard II of la Marck, lord of Aremberg,
in 1427 and became the fief of this formidable family. In 1521, the
fortress was attacked by the armies of Charles V who tore it down.
In 1967, the ruins became the property of the Liège Province. The
fortress is divided into three parts: a dungeon tower, thick walls
with a high court around which the seigniorial living quarters were
laid and from which the caves, the kitchen and the rest of the
buildings and several systems subside. One thing worth noting is
the exceptional view offered by the fortress over the Ourthe and
Lembree valleys.

Het Château fort de Logne werd in de 9de eeuw gebouwd en waakte jarenlang over de vallei van de Lembrée en de omliggende dorpen. Op 20 april 1521 startte Keizer Karel een offensief tegen de arrogante eigenaars van deze versterkte burcht. Het middeleeuwse gebouw werd in slechts 11 dagen bijna volledig vernield!
Graafwerken die meer dan 30 jaar geleden van start gingen, legden de waterput van 56 m diepte bloot. De meeste van de voorwerpen die tijdens deze opzoekingen teruggevonden werden, staan tentoongesteld in het archeologisch museum.
Het Château Fort de Logne is toegankelijk voor toeristen van april tot oktober en biedt een combinatieticket met de roofvogelshow en het museum (alleen in juli en augustus) … U kunt het kasteel vrij bezoeken of met een gratis meertalige (FR, NL, EN, DE) audiogids. In juli en augustus is er een begeleid bezoek van het kasteel om 13u, 15u en 17u voor de Franstaligen en om 12u, 14u en 16u voor de Nederlandstaligen. Voor groepen van minstens 20 personen en op reservatie kan een schattenjacht georganiseerd worden.
