Between the Post Office and St Mary's Church the horse trough is now a flower bed with a very faded inscription. In 1888 when the horse trough was erected there were several horse-coach excursions available. From here people were taken to Snowdonia from Llandudno having lunch in Betws-y-Coed.

Horse troughs were drinking stations for the horses who pulled the coaches.
