[cs] Areál bývalé veznice v Uherském Hradišti, který byl postaven na konci 19. století, je místem s pohnutou historií. Behem nemeckého protektorátu byl žalárem ceských vlastencu, po osvobození zde probíhaly retribucní soudy a na prelomu 40. a 50. let zde byla z politických duvodu veznena, mucena a popravena rada lidí. Tento objekt je vzácným monumentem, který zustává do dnešních dnu kompaktne zachován ve své historické podobe.

V 90. letech se uvažovalo o rekonstrukci a opetovném zprovoznení veznice. Do areálu mel být premísten i okresní soud. Jelikož toto rešení by nezarucovalo zachování historické hodnoty a neobycejne silné atmosféry místa, vznikla na pocátku roku 2010 obcanská Iniciativa za dustojné využití veznice v Uherském Hradišti.

První akcí iniciativy bylo rozšírení petice, která prosazuje zachování historické podoby místa za úcelem vzdelávacích aktivit. Príznivci iniciativy, jejíž jádro tvorí obcanské sdružení Memoria, vytvárí platformu pro dialog a porádají tematicky spríznené akce. Snaží se prosazovat ideu založení památníku obetí totalitních režimu a tzv. muzea mocenské perzekuce v historicky nejcennejších cástech vezenského areálu.
