Die Pontlatz Brücke war 1703 und 1809 Schauplatz blutiger Kampfhandlungen zwischen Tiroler Schützenaufgeboten sowie Bayern und Franzosen. An die Ereignisse bei Pontlaz erinnert der 1904 errichtete Bronzeadler, der, zum Fangstoß bereit, auf die Brücke späht.

bei Pontlatz ist die denkwürdige Stelle, wo am 1. Juli
1703 die tapferen Männer der vier Gerichte Landeck,
Laudeck, Pfunds und Naudersberg unter Führung des
kaisertreuen Patrioten Martin Sterzinger den Ansturm
eines feindlichen Kriegsvolkes brachen und durch die
Vernichtung eines ganzen Corps den Muth der streitberen
Männer in allen Teilen Tirols zu ähnlichen Heldenthaten
weckten.
