The village of Miquelon is the chief community in the commune of Miquelon-Langlade located in the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. The sign includes the contact information for the office of Miquelon-Langlade and the coat of arms for Miquelon-Langlade.
The coat of arms potrays the Acadian flag at the top, a field of green representing hope and resolution to live on the island, the kakawit bird (or Miquelon harelde) holding the flag of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, and two cod fish in the sea.
The name Miquelon comes from a Basque word for Michael. Many of the earliest fisherman were named Michael.
