Rock Hound State Park, southeast of Deming, New Mexico, is unique in that it encourages visitors to take home park of the park - up to 15 pound. Varieties of jasper, quartz crystals, perlite, agate and common opal can easily be picked up along the walking trails but the more unique ones such as geodes and thunder eggs will require digging.
