In the mid 80's the old railway line which linked the cities of Guimarães and Fafe been decommissioned and turned into Ecotrail.
In 1996, the City of Fafe, opened to the public the trail of Fafe, with a length of seven kilometers, stretching across predominantly rural areas. In 1999 the City of Guimarães completed the route and inaugurated the trail of Guimarães, making the connection between the two.
Along the trail you can still see traces of the train line, as the abandoned station of Paçô Vieira you can see in the pictures.
