Henry Sy started business in Manila with a shoe store, later knownt as the Shoe Mart, or just "SM." Today the SM Group operates over 40 malls in the Philippines with expansion planned to other countries. The Mall of Asia, located on the edge of Manila Bay is the largest of them, and by area is the third largest in Asia.
Part of the philosophy of the SM malls is that they will also be places for family entertainment. The Mall of Asia features the Philippines first IMAX Theater and Olympic size ice skating rink - quite a novelty in this tropical country. Arcades, open play spaces, and this little carousel add to the festive atmosphere.
This small carousel has about 20 animals and carriages and sits in an open area of the mall.
