Bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg war Innichen Garnison der k.u.k. Österreich-Ungarischen Armee. 1914 waren hier der Stab und das IV. Bataillon des Landesschützen-Regiments Nr. III stationiert.
Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg errichteten die italienischen Faschisten als Denkmal ein Beinhaus. Das Denkmal ist bis heute umstritten, weil die hier bestatteten Soldaten von weit entfernten Kriegerfriedhöfen hierher umgebettet wurden.

Until the First World War was the imperial garrison Candido Austria-Hungarian army. In 1914, the staff and the Fourth Battalion of the National Rifle Regiment were stationed III.
After World War II, the Italian fascists built as a monument to an ossuary. The monument is still controversial because the soldiers buried here were moved from far-away war cemeteries here.
