Penang Island is prominent tourist stop and retirement region in northern Malaysia. The State Museum is a pleasant find amidst the streets of ‘old’ (tourist) Georgetown, Penang. The Museum is relatively small, but filled with pictures, paintings, artefacts and information about the history of Penang. The scope of the Museum is limited to the recent past, since European colonisation, tracing the history of the different ethnic groups on the island.
Entry to the Museum is a mere one Ringit (approx us30c) for an adult (half that for a child), and can consume several hours, if you enjoy visiting a museum. The only drawback, strictly no photos !
