Dieses Denkmal, gefertigt vom Bildhauer Starcke in Dresden, ist oben geziert mit einem in Sandstein gehauenen Löwen, zeigt links das Bildnis Kaiser Wilhelms I. und König Alberts von Sachsen, rechts das Bildnis Moltkes und Bismarcks. Es trägt auf der Westseite die Inschrift:
Dieses Denkmal
zur ewigen Erinnerung an den
großen siegreichen Kampf
1870 der geeinigten 1871
Deutschen Stämme
und an die
großen Männer dieser Zeit
errichteten
dankbare Deutsche.
Gedenket der Tapferen,
die vor dem Feinde blieben:
Hermann Wächter, Stolpen.

Droben zeugt die Burgruine von dem Hochmute der Franzosen, das Denkmal drunten am Fuße des Siebenspitzigen Turmes von der Demut und der Dankbarkeit der Deutschen.
