The slogan of Stolpen is "Burgstadt mit Geist": castle town with ghost, but you can also translate it castle town with spirit...
It's a pun in German, it doesn't work in English, but in German it's a pretty good pun...

If you want to see the ghost, just visit the castle.
If you want to see the spirit, just visit the lovely town....

And here is the origin of the town's name:
The name Stolpen is based on the old Slavic word "stolp", which refers to the importance of post or wall on the appearance of the basalt columns. Over the centuries, the spelling changed, however, several times. Narrated are inter alia the forms Stolp (1227), Stolper (1233), Ztolp (1252), Stulpin (1378) and Stolppen (1478)..
