Great small country church located in the rural bayou community of Gibson. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places for, oddly enough not the Civil War relationship, but rather for the Greek Revival styling. The Louisiana Historical marker located leaning on the front of the structure unveils the Civil War relationship, which was quite a shock. It is a very small structure, and it was flanked on each side by the church Cemetery. Also strange enough, only 1 Civil War Veteran burial location was found on property.
The State of Louisiana Marker on the front states:
Erected in 1849 on land donated by Cornelius and John Wallis. During Civil War church was used as a hospital. Entered National Register of Historic Places May 8, 1986.
