Rio Tinto Regional Center (also known as Daybreak Corporate Center)
Platinum certification - core and shell
The state-of-the-art Daybreak Corporate Center is approximately 175,000 square feet and houses the Rio Tinto Regional Center. The core and shell of the building achieved LEED Platinum certification for the design and management practices during the construction process. In 2008, the building became LEED Platinum certified, making it the first LEED Platinum building in Utah.
Gold certification - commercial interiors
The Rio Tinto Regional Center provides work space for hundreds of Rio Tinto, Kennecott Utah Copper and Kennecott Land employees. Located inside the Daybreak Corporate Center, the Rio Tinto Regional Center uses 22 percent less energy than a standard office building through smart lighting, building orientation, and a photovoltaic solar-roof system that creates energy efficiency. The commercial interiors of the Rio Tinto Regional Center became LEED Gold certified in 2009.
