[de]Bertha Klingberg, 1898 in hamburg geboren, war eine bekannte und geachtete Blumenverkäuferin, die besonders für die traditionelle Rethnaer Tracht bekannt war, die sie trug.
Nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung sammelte sie innerhalb kurzer Zeit - im Alter von 92 Jahren - mehr als 17.000 Unterschriften und trug so maßgeblich dazu bei Schwerin zur neuen hauptstadt des Bundeslands zu ernennen.
Für diese Verdienste wurde sie 1993 mit dem Ehrenring der Stadt augezeichnet und 2003 zur Ehrenbürgerin ernannt.
Als Blumenverkäuferin war es ihr sehnlichster Wunsch die Bundesgartenschau 2009 mit zuerleben. bedauerlicherweise starb bertha Klingberg 2 Jahre zuvor im Alter von 107.
Ihr zu Ehren wurde das ehemalige Eingangsareal der Bundesgartenschau in "Bertha-Klingberg-Platz" umbenannt und diese Skulptur errichtet.
[en]Bertha Klingberg, born 1898 in Hamburg, Germany, was a well known and respected flower seller, best known for wearing the traditional costume from the city of Rehna.
After the german reunion in 1990, at the age of 92, she collected more than 17.000 signatures and was crucial in making the city of Schwerin the capital of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
In 1993 she was rewarded with the ring of honor by the city's government, and in 2003 she was declared honorable citizen.
As a flower seller, it was her greatest wish to see the "Bundesgartenschau" (German Federal Garden Show) in 2009, but sadly Bertha Klingberg died two years prior to the show, at the age of 107.
In memory of this woman, the area of the former entry to the Garden Show has been renamed to "Bertha-Klingberg-Platz" and this sculpture was erected as a memorial and sign of gratitude.
