Pyrford Lock - Waterway Locks, Planes and Lifts on Waymarking.com

The 15.5 mile Wey Navigation, connecting the Thames at Weybridge to Guildford, was opened in 1653. Built at a cost of £16,000 ($30,000) it was constructed by a workforce of 200 men known as navigators or navvies. Over 9 miles had to be cut and 12 locks were constructed.

The lock is still operational and can handle boats up to 71'6" long, 14' beam, 7' height and 3' draft.

Now owned and managed by the National Trust. A very pleasant pub at the lock makes a great place to stop by after a visit.
