This bike tender may not look very interesting but it is signposted from the national cycle route 66 and is located at the ASDA supermarket.
Route 66 is a national long distance cycle route, running between Kingston-upon-Hull and Manchester. I don’t know the exact length of the cycle route, but by car the approximate distance is 118 miles.
In the UK and organisation called SUSTRANS promotes sustainable transport especially by the use of cycles. They have helped to design a national network of national cycle routes, and work with local councils to provide cycle lanes and signs.
Not all of the route 66 is open yet, but this area of Bradford seems to be very well signed.
The sign organisers obviously thought that a supermarket bike park would be very handy for people on a long distance cycle path. As well as being able to buy all manner of goods at ASDA there is also a McDonald’s.
If you fancy buying supplies for a picnic then Bowling Hall Park is only about 1/ 4 mile away.
This part of the route can be found by using the following link (
visit link)
and then enter Bowling Hall Medical Practice in the search box on the map itself. Next to there you will see a shopping basket representing ASDA.
The park is just to the north of there.
