Neo-gothic Church of the Ascension of the Virgin in Horní Maršov was built in 1895 - 1899 according to design of a prominent Czech architect Josef Schulz (National Museum, Rudolfinum and National Theater in Prague). 80% of the cost was paid by countess Aloise Czernin-Morzin.
The foundation of the new church were laid in 1894 and on September 22, 1895 started the constrution of the church. In 1896 was built church aisle with roof and the next year was erected tower of the church. On July 29, 1897 a big flood was the church heavily mudded and sanded. Till in 1898 it was possible to finish the whole constrution of the church tower. The church was consacrated on October 15, 1899.
