19th Street Bridge - 1888 - Denver, CO - Bridge Date Stones and Plaques on Waymarking.com

"The 1878 flooding of the South Platte River prompted a series of bridge replacements. In 1888, the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company of Leavenworth, Kansas constructed this pin connected, five-panel, two-span steel Pratt through truss, one of the state’s most ornamental. It remains in use for pedestrian traffic." (from (visit link) )

This bridge is now a pedestrian bridge adjacent to the current 19th Street Bridge over the South Platte River. It was built in 1888 for $25,000 and is a Two-Span Pratt Through Truss design. It is a beautiful old bridge, but really does not go anywhere for the average pedestrian. It is also discussed on page 96 of the Highway Bridges in Colorado Multiple Property Submission.
